About Me
I grew up in a former one-room schoolhouse in the countryside of western Pennsylvania. My family and surroundings nurtured my love of animals, plants and rural life. As an adult I was fortunate to live two versions of my dream life on a homestead and a horse farm.
After nearly five decades of country living, life’s twists and turns have brought me to where I never wanted to be: living in an apartment in a small city. It’s been an uncomfortable adjustment. Let’s just say I’m learning to bloom where I’m planted.
I'm the author of A Farm Heritage Album and two editions of The Complete Homestead Planner. My articles and essays have appeared in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pennsylvania Magazine, Woman’s World, EQUUS, Draft Horse Journal, Mother Earth News and other outlets.
When I'm not busy writing, I enjoy reading, photography and caring for my plants.
